The Apartment Garden

I feel like we’ve gotten lucky with a nice REAL spring this year - perhaps it’s just me but it feels like a milder spring - usually we’re already well into the heat by now?
One of my favorite things is having my windows and doors wide open to the fresh spring morning or evening air. In the morning with coffee in hand, checking on those little plant babies in the garden - though this year’s looks a little different from my 3rd floor apartment. In my effort to continue my passion and pursuit of the future “homestead” I installed a raised bed on my balcony for a few home-grown vegetables and herbs. I of course also have several plant babies that I’ve accrued over the last several years.
Henceforth my little balcony of botanical bliss shall be referred to as “The Apartment Garden.”
So far I've grown: Romaine Lettuce, Oregano, Thai Basil, Lavender and Rosemary. Attempting to grow a few bell peppers from seed as well, those just finally sprouted so we shall see!
Failed attempt at strawberries that I think sat too long in their bags *sigh* and also tried to propogate some hydrangea's from cut flowers that aren't quite dead, but are knocking on deaths door *double sigh*.
I also have a pink lemondade blueberry bush that I bought in spring 2024 that is thriving (though unsure it'll produce this year without pollination) and also a lemon tree that Vance and I grew from seed in spring 2023. And last but not least, some mint that I've been drying for hot teas.
A few ornamental flowering varieties as well: Salvia, Corryopsus, Spider Lillies, woodland phlox, and a couple varieties of roses.
Oh and don't forget the random sunflowers that have fallen from bird feeder above LOL
I just love the space, however small it may be for now, and truly try to take the time to enjoy it when possible.
Make time for the things that bring you joy...
